Electrical Design Engineer, Data Centers (R&D)

Engineer data center electrical distribution in the reference design — medium voltage through busway to the rack — and own the studies behind it.

Austin, TX · New York, NY · San Francisco, CA · Seattle, WA Hyperscale AI $203,000 – $232,000 + equity Permanent

About the role

Our client rethinks every layer of the data center stack in-house. Their electrical reference design is a living product, refined build after build rather than handed off to consultants.

You'll engineer that distribution design and stand behind your own studies, answering field questions same-day and engineering as-built deltas back into the standard.

What you'll do

  • Engineer data center electrical distribution in the reference design: medium voltage through busway to the rack.
  • Run the studies — load flow, short circuit, coordination and arc flash — owned in ETAP or SKM.
  • Develop equipment specifications: switchgear, transformers, UPS and busway packages evaluated and integrated.
  • Support builds: field questions answered same-day, as-built deltas engineered back into the reference design.

What we're looking for

  • You've designed electrical distribution for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • You run your own studies and stand behind the settings.
  • You've specified and evaluated major distribution equipment.
  • Your one-lines are current, correct and buildable.
  • You've supported energization on designs you drew.

Nice to have

  • ETAP or SKM depth.
  • Medium-voltage design experience.
  • UPS and static transfer systems; NEC mastery.
